The Consortium has developed a specification to enable research to be undertaken locally into the parent involvement in local decision-making. Funding is being sought to finance this project.
We are trying to participate in the working groups that have been set up in response to the SEN Review.
We are working with the Carers Centre to obtain funding for an Education Advocacy post, which will be hosted and managed by the Carers Centre. This would allow families of disabled children to access guidance and support relating to their children’s education.
We are again working with the Carers Centre to obtain funding for a Parent Participation/Involvement worker to support families of disabled children to get involved in local decision making about their children.
The Consortium is leading on the development of a Parents Forum or similar mechanism. The aim of this is to find ways to prioritise issues collectively and support families to have a voice in how services for children with disabilities and additional needs are shaped and delivered locally.
