Consortium Objectives.

4 local groups who support families of children with autism and related developmental difficulties have got together to work on common objectives.

The groups are:

  • Bright Futures
  • Oldham Support group for Carers in Autism
  • Fantastic Dyspraxic Kids
  • ASPACE

The objectives of the Consortium are:

  • To analyse the range, appropriateness and availability of educational provision in Oldham for children with autism and related developmental difficulties
  • To identify key issues and any gaps in provision
  • To work with stakeholders to plan for service improvement, where appropriate

The Consortium is supported by the Parent Support Project of TreeHouse, the national charity for autism education.

The TreeHouse Constructive Campaigning Parent Support Project is a three year DCFS funded project which aims to improve the quality and quantity of autism education by working with parents, carers, local authorities and voluntary and community groups in 10 areas of England. Mariana Ware, Parent Support Officer for Oldham said ‘ we are delighted to be working with Oldham’s Education Campaign Consortium and look forward to developing a strong local network of people concerned with planning, commissioning and delivering education of children with autism in Oldham.’
